AyA was founded by Musa Saidy and Abigail Smith a Teacher From the Uk. They recognised the lack of learning aids and facilities in the majority of Primary and secondary schools. We have m patnerd with organisations in Germany and the Uk to provide much needed Aids to communities in the Gambia.
One of The aims of AYA is to build l Schools /a library and learning centres in towns and remote villages within the Gambia: and to provide existing schools with books computers and other learning aids. We also aim to provide school places and school meals and uniforms for poor families who cannot afford to send their children to school.
After many years of teaching students from a variety of economic, social and education backgrounds, Abigail recognise the importance of using different learning aids in order to support learning in the classroom. Visual Aids and books play an important part in the learning process. There is a great need within the Gambian schools and communities for these types of learning tools. That is why we en to do our best in order to fulfil the needs of these poor communities in the Gambia.
We Aim to Work mainly in the rural communities to bring aid to the people and to equip them with tools where they will eventually be able to become independent members of society. One great example of this is the progress that is being made by the women of the village in the area of Horticulture, they are given access to land and seeds to grow fruits and vegetables to sell to the community and secure funds to pay for the needs of thier family which includes Education and school meals
We have a vision to expand out projects to other areas of need within the community. We hope to build a Health centre in Aljamdu Village as there is a lack of Medical care in this commumity and the ajoining villages near by.
We welcome donations from any individual or organisations who would like to support our vision
Supporting and empowering village schools health initatives, and providing tools to help the women of the village grow better crops in the Gambia. We aim to provide books, learning resources such as computers, Art supplies, and Football gear. We would like to extend our support to these children by providing them with free schools meals and pay fees for four two children per year. We welcome small and large contributions in whatever form you are able to assist. Thank you
